Doctor Professor’s apps brings a new solution to one of the biggest educational challenges there is – to learn the thousands of writing characters used in Japanese and Chinese. My task was to design the apps so that the memory technique and game ideas came to life in an intuitive user experience with a fresh look.

Many screens and lots of content
One of the app’s core features is learning writing characters with help from illustrated memo stories. Award winning illustrator Kenneth Andersson and animator Mattias Johannesson made a stunning job. This showreel shows some samples from the hundreds of memo stories in the app.
Simplicity over complexity
In the latest product iteration several new features were added that supports more advanced language studies. As designer my job is to make sure more functionalities never result in a messy interface. As simple as possible is always the goal, for example by using clear visual hierarchies and consistent interactions.
